Ukulele Beginner Course

While other online ukulele teachers might bore you with musical theory and technicalities, I teach only what you need to have the most fun playing as quickly as possible. I make the ukulele simple by quickly teaching you four simple chords and three key strum patterns that will allow you to play hundreds of songs in a fun, varietous way. By the end of this course, you will also develop the skills you need to look up any song you want, simplify the chords, and play it with confidence.

By the end of this course, you’ll feel extremely confident transitioning between each of the 4 most important chords, allowing you to play along with me in my hundreds of tutorial videos. And with the 3 key strum patterns I’ll be teaching you, you’ll be able to play them in a fun, varietous way. I’ll also equip you with the skills you need to move beyond the chords and strum patterns of this course. I’ll show you how to look up any song you want to learn, simplify the chords, master the transitions between any new chords, and play it with an engaging mix of strum patterns.

While most students will likely complete this course in 3 weeks, doing one lesson per day, feel free to go at your own pace. You might do several lessons per day and finish the course in a week or less, or you might take your time and do one lesson every few days. Whatever works best for you.

You can spend as much or as little time as you’d like on each lesson. If the lesson has a song you really like, feel free to spend more time on it and maybe even memorize it. If you’re not wanting to memorize the song and feel like you’ve mastered the lesson’s content, you might finish a lesson in less than 10 minutes. As long as you are having fun, you are doing this course right.

This course is perfect for anyone who is relatively new to the ukulele, whether you are a child, teen, adult, or older adult. It will take you from wherever you are at, regardless of musical experience, and equip you with the skills you need to learn any song you want to play on the ukulele.

Because this course is go-at-your-own-pace, even kids as young as 6 years old won’t get overwhelmed and will have fun from lesson 1! Children 5 and younger might try this course, but they may not have the finger dexterity or attention span required yet. If you think your child is ready, though, feel free to give it a try, and you can always try again several months down the road.

If your child is fairly independent, he/she should have no trouble completing this course and learning the ukulele on their own. If your child is younger than 10 or struggles to motivate him/herself, it may help for you to participate in the course with him/her. That would simply mean spending 10-15 minutes with him/her each day on a lesson. No need for you to have any musical experience, just being there to love and support your child is enough.
